- Friday, April 1 is the last day to buy Prom Tickets..They can be purchased during Lunch Only!!!

-Senior BBQ is Friday, April 1st 11:00am - 6:00pm

-Students please make sure that when you come in the building in the morning you have everything you will need for the day. Students will not be allowed to go to their car for any reason once the school day has started.

-Students-Please park in your assigned parking space. If you have not purchased a parking space, pick up a form in the front office. Cars will be checked for parking passes.

-The Mayor's Youth Leadership Council was created by Mayor Jennifer Stultz and the City Council in 2001. One of the purposes of the council is to build a noncompetitive spirit between the students of Gastonia's four public schools. The council traditionally partakes in community service activities such as celebrations with the Boys and Girls Club and Hope for Gaton. If you are interested in submitting application, see Mr. Bennett by April 2

-Students interested in attending an academic or arts summer camp this summer at Lee's McRae College please see Ms. Boswell. They are offering scholarships for student's to be able to attend the camps.

-Afternoon Bus 357 Changes for Remainder of this year: Bus 357 students on Maple Crest will now ridge Bus 146. Students on Union Terrace and Iris Dr. will ride Bus 120. Students on Patrick Rd will ride Bus 27. Students on Bud Wilson Rd will ride Bus 98.

-It is very Important that School Procedures are followed when dropping off or picking up from school. The Policy states that all Students should use the front entrance or student parking lot doors.

-Any 9th, 10th or 11th grade girl interested in trying out for the JV or varsity cheerleading squad next year..there will be a mandatory parent meeting on Tuesday, March 29 @ 6:00 in the cafeteria. Practice for tryouts will be Monday, April 18 and Tuesday, April 19 from 6:00-8:00 in the main gym. Tryouts will be Thursday April 21 beginning at 6:00 in the Main Gym. -Applications are being accepted for the 2011 session of the American Legion Tar Heel Boy's State which will be held June 19-25 at Catawba College in Salisbury, NC.
TarHeel Boys' State is a leadership program of Action where participants learn today to lead tomorrow. It is highly intense in nature and teaches in a practical way the principles of good goverment at the city, county and state levels.
Only males who have completed their junior year are considered. For more information, see Mr. Bennett in guidance. The deadline for applications is Thursday, March 31

-If you plan to take an NCVPS on-line course, you must complete an application packet. Once the packet is complete, your name will be added to the waiting list.

-Appalachian State University is offering its 4th Forensic Science Camp this summer: July 6-9 and July 20-23.
This camp is for those students with a strong background in science who are interested in pursuing a career as a forensic analyst or who are just curious about the field. See Mr. Bennett in Guidance for more information.

-Students..If you need additional help in any of your classes. Peer tutoring will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00-4:00 in B106. A late bus runs these days and leaves Forestview at 4:30

-The GASTON GAZETTE'S BEST AND BRIGHTEST 2011 awards program will honor one senior from each of the Greater Gaston area high schools who epitomize the community builders of their generation. These students are committed to their studies, but they are also making meaningful contributions to the betterment of their schools and communities through a myriad of activities. They have shown the ability to balance all the elements in their lives and in some cases have overcome enormous obstacles. Applications for this award can be accessed online or you can see Mr. Bennett in guidance for complete information. The completed application must be received by The Gaston Gazette by Friday, April 8 at 5:00 pm.

-SENIORS planning to attend college for the 2011-12 year should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Completing the FAFSA may qualify students for Pell Grants, Federal Work Study and low interest student loans. In addition, colleges and universities utilize information on the FAFSA in distributing their need-based financial aid. since tax documentation is necessary for completion of the FAFSA, it is extremely important for you to prepare federal tax forms as early as possible this year. Please check with your potential colleges and universities for filing deadlines. Also, please know that filing the FAFSA is on a first come basis, so do not delay. Applications are available online at www.fafsa.gov.

Ladies...leggings or tights must have appropriate attire that meet the dollar bill rule over top of them. Also, hoods and hats of any kind are not permitted inside of the building. -The Mayor's Youth Leadership Council is taking in new members. It is a service oriented group run by the City of Gastonia. Applications are in guidance with Ms. Boswell. The applications are due back April 8.

-Students interested in attending an academic or arts summer camp this summer at Lee's McRae College please see Ms. Boswell. They are offering then scholarships for student's to be able to attend the camps.

-Student Council Meeting Tuesday, March 22 @ 7:30 in B128. If you want to help with Special Olympics, you must attend this meeting!

-Deposits for Advanced Placement exams are due Friday, March 18th. If you have taken an AP course this year and plan to take the AP exam, you must pay the deposit of $13 per exam. -Junior Civitans Meeting has been moved to Thursday afternoon in Mrs. Rouse's room.

-German Club will meet on Tuesday, March 15 in D130. We will have a competition with prizes.

-Mandatory Invisible Childrens Club meeting on Wednesday, March 16 @ 3:00p.m in Mrs. Henry's room. All members should attend or contact David Tompkins if unable to come on Wednesday. We will be passing out T-Shirts and wrapping up plans for our ICC event that will take place this coming Sunday.

-All Students and Teachers that purchased an Invisible Children T-Shirt are invited to wear their T-Shirts on Thursday. Please wear in order to promote our big event that will take place Sunday. Please wear your shirt to the event.

-If you plan to take an NCVPS on-line course, you must complete an application packet. Once the packet is complete, your name will be added to the waiting list.

-Appalachian State University is offering its 4th Forensic Science Camp this summer: July 6-9 and July 20-23.
This camp is for those students with a strong background in science who are interested in pursuing a career as a forensic analyst or who are just curious about the field. See Mr. Bennett in Guidance for more information.

These students are committed to their studies, but they are also making meaningful contributions to the betterment of their schools and communities through a myriad of activities. They have shown the ability to balance all the elements in their lives and in some cases have overcome enormous obstacles. Applications for this award can be accessed online or you can see Mr. Bennett in guidance for complete information. The completed application must be received by The Gaston Gazette by Friday, April 8 at 5:00 pm.
