CHARACTER EDUCATION TRAIT FOR SEPTEMBER: RESPECT

-STUDENTS: A COLLEGE NIGHT PROGRAM is being held here at Forestview TONIGHT at 7:00 pm. College Admission representatives from ASU, UNC, UNCC, GARDNER WEBB, and
UNC PEMBROKE. This will be a great opportunity for you to ask the admissions representatives any questions you have in regards to their admission policies. Also, you will have an opportunity to get updated information regarding various scholarships.

-All members or potential members of the FORESTVIEW BROADCASTING CLUB should stop by B104 to receive a ballot and vote for officers. Club members must pay $5.00 annual dues before October 15 to remain in the club and to participate in club photos October 30.

-Mrs. Crabtree's AP Biology students: Please go by Mrs. Crabtree's room for your homework assignment.

-Student and Teachers: Tailgate BBQ tickets go on sale October 1. Student order forms will be distributed in your 2nd period class. Extra forms will be on the website.

-Congratulations to the following students on receiving Forestview's nomination for the PARK SCHOLARSHIP: AMELIA BOLICK AND CHARLIE BRADY. We congratulate these students on their achievement and we wish them luck in the next level of competition.

-SENIOR PICTURE MAKE-UPS FOR TUX, DRAPE, AND CAP AND GOWN HAVE MOVED TO MONDAY, OCTOBER 6 FOR ALPHA K-Z. Bring a $25.00 sitting fee. 8:15 am to 2:45 will be for SENIORS (alpha K-Z) who have NEVER had a package or Yearbook only photo. 3:00-6:00 will be for RETAKES FOR K-Z ALPHA for SENIORS who want to have their package taken again. This is the last photo date to finish SENIOR PHOTOS for the yearbook. No other photography studio pictures are accepted.

-There will be a NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY MEETING today, September 30 at 3:00 pm in Ms. Bostian's room to elect officers, pay dues, sign up for Tailgate and discuss ideas!

-There will be a AJ Grant Wrestling Clinic on Saturday, October 4 at North Gaston High School. If interested in attending you may pick up information sheets in the front office.

-Any SENIOR interested in teaching as a career should consider the NC TEACHING FELLOWS SCHOLARSHIP. Interested students should have a strong record of academic achievement, community service, and extracurricular activities. See Mr. Collins for more information. Applications are due October 17.

-Tindol Ford along with the Ford Motor Company have graciously agreed to sponsor our school in a Cruise For Your School fundraiser. This unique opportunity will allow us to raise up to $6000 for our school. Ford will donate $20 to our school for each test drive up to $6000. Cruise 4 Ur School has been canceled on Friday due to inclement weather and will be re-scheduled for October 3. Each driver must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver's license, which means Seniors who are 18 may participate.

-Coach Stewart is selling a 10 event SPORTS PASS for $35.00. If interested, please come by the front office. Also, we have an ALL SPORTS FAMILY PASS available.

-Any SENIOR interested in teaching as a career should consider the NC TEACHING FELLOWS SCHOLARSHIP. Interested students should have a strong record of academic achievement, community service, and extracurricular activities. See Mr. Collins for more information. Applications are due October 17.

-For students interested in preparing for the PSAT and SAT, we will be hosting a ZAPS Educational seminar on Monday, September 29 and Tuesday, September 30 from 3:15-5:45. The cost is $79 for this 5 hour test prep seminar. For registration information, see Mr. Bennett in the guidance office.

-Tindol Ford along with the Ford Motor Company have graciously agreed to sponsor our school in a Cruise For Your School fundraiser. This unique opportunity will allow us to raise up to $6000 for our school. Ford will donate $20 to our school for each test drive up to $6000. -The PSAT/NMSQT is a test of critical thinking skills that are important for success in college. Taking the PSAT enables students to Get feedback about academic skills, prepare for the SAT, get information from colleges, initiate the college planning process, and enter scholarship competitions. The test date is OCTOBER 15. Sign-ups are September 23, 24, and 25 during lunches under the clock. There is no cost to 10th graders taking the exam for the first time and $13.00 for all others. See Mr. Bennett in guidance for more information.

-The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics is a public residential High School for academically talented juniors and seniors with interests in science and mathematics. The criteria for acceptance is rigorous and the application process should begin soon. If interested, see Mr. Bennett in the guidance office.

Cruise 4 Ur School has been canceled on Friday due to inclement weather and will be re-scheduled for October 3. Each driver must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver's license, which means Seniors who are 18 may participate.

Each driver must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver's license, which means Seniors who are 18 may participate.

CHARACTER EDUCATION TRAIT FOR SEPTEMBER: RESPECT

-This week is CLUB WEEK. Students may sign up for clubs during lunches this week.

-The GERMAN CLUB meets on Monday, September 15 after school in B118. Officers will be elected and we will celebrate Oktoberfest in September. Bring $12 dues. Any student interested in being an officer come to Frau Schmid-Rankin today or tomorrow after school in B116.

-Congresswomen Sue Myrick is seeking applicants for the 2008-2009 Youth Advisory Council. If you have interests in political and international events and wish to enter the application process, see Mr. Bennett in Guidance.

-The National Art Honors Society will meet Tuesday, September 16 in Mrs. Bostian's room. Only about 5-10 minutes. Bring ideas and dues.

-Preliminary applications for the Morehead-Cain Scholarship and Park Scholarship are due to Mr. Collins on Friday, September 12. Interviews for the Morehead-Cain will take place on Tuesday, September 16 @ 3:00 in the Library. Interviews for the Park Scholarship will take place on Thursday, September 18 @ 3:00 in the main conference room.

-GIRLS BASKETBALL 1st Open Gym will be Thursday, September 11 from 4:30-6:00 in the main gym. This is for all GIRLS VARSITY AND JV who are planning on trying out in November. Must sign (sign-up) sheet on Coach Beaty's door before Thursday.

-Cancer Services of Gaston County is in the process of selecting members for its Youth Advisory Council. Cancer Services of Gaston County values the thoughts and opinions of our local youth and invite your involvement. Candidates for the council should be interested in participating in advocacy work and be willing and able to attend meetings and participate in activities. If interested, see Mr. Bennett in guidance.

-There will be a MEN'S BASKETBALL OPEN GYM after school today, September 11.

-A College Admissions Representative from Furman University will be here at the school on today, September 11 at 9:00 am. Any Junior or Senior interested in hearing more about this school should sign up in Student Services.

-There will be a meeting of the Young Democrats today after school in D107 (Mr. Erexson's room). Bring a friend.

-Seniors that didn't have their cap and gown pictures made in June have an opportunity for make-ups on today, September 11. Please bring a $25.00 sitting fee.

-Homeroom is today, September 11. Renaissance Cards will be distributed (hopefully). We will also have Student Council Elections for Freshmen Representatives, and run off for Student Body Treasurer. Students can also turn in the Senior Project proposal if they haven't already.

-Anyone interested in participating in the Science Fair please see Miss Harrison in Learning Cottage One.

-Dance Team pictures will be made on Friday, September 19 @ 3:30

-For students interested in preparing for the PSAT and SAT, we will be hosting a ZAPS Educational seminar on Monday, September 29 and Tuesday, September 30 from 3:15-5:45. The cost is $79 for this 5 hour test prep seminar. For registration information, see Mr. Bennett in the guidance office.

-Tindol Ford along with the Ford Motor Company have graciously agreed to sponsor our school in a Cruise For Your School fundraiser. This unique opportunity will allow us to raise up to $6000 for our school. Ford will donate $20 to our school for each test drive up to $6000. Cruise 4 Ur School has been canceled on Friday due to inclement weather and will be re-scheduled for SEPTEMBER 26. Each drive must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver's license, which means Seniors who are 18 may participate.

-Coach Stewart is selling a 10 event SPORTS PASS for $35.00. If interested, please come by the front office. Also, we have an ALL SPORTS FAMILY PASS available.
