-Congratulations to Jake Emerson for winning the Big South Conference tennis tournament, in singles, held at Gardner Webb University. Congratulations to Rob Arend and Justin Henry for winning the tournament in doubles. All three of these guys qualified for regionals with their wins at the tournament.

-Congratulations to the top three contestants in the Forestview Radio Broadcasting Club "Laughs for Life" fundraiser. Thanks to everyone who voted by donating to Relay for Life. And thanks to all of our contestants. The winners of the contestants based on students votes, who will receive gift cards are Ms. Rice (third place); Allison Rodriguez (second place) and Lauren Caddick (first place).

-Attention Seniors: The JAG RAG newspaper is publishing the college or military plans of seniors in the next paper. This information was collected in homeroom. If you are not a senior and you did not get to submit your college or military plans, please see Mrs. Gerow, Haley Twist or Victoria Flanagan.

-HUSKINS COLLEGE GATEWAY and Learn and Earn Online courses require completion of the Gaston College COMPASS placement test prior to enrollment. This placement test evaluates skills in English, reading and math. A representative from Gaston College will be here at Forestview to administer the test on May 6, 2010. If you are interested in scheduling either Huskins or Learn and Earn Online courses for next year, see your guidance counselor to sign up for the COMPASS test.

-SPECIAL OLYMPIC RESULTS: Last Friday, April 23, seven Forestview athletes competed in the Gaston County Special Olympics Track and Field Events. Congratulations to the following award winners: Melody Reed (1st place 100 yd. run); Ashley Grooms (1st place Softball throw); Veronika Flynn (1st place softball throw and 2nd place 100 yd run); Clay Williamson (1st place 25 yd walk and 2nd place softball throw); Victoria Matteson (2nd place softball throw and 2nd place 50 yd run; Courtney Garrison (2nd place 50 yd run and 3rd place softball throw); and Jason Rowe (2nd place 25 yd walk and 3rd place softball throw).

-Members of the Forestview BIBLE CLUB and STUDENT COUNCIL will be volunteering for the Special Olympics program on Friday, April 23. We will be leaving by bus at approx. 8:15 am and returning before the end of the school day. Students should report to first period and an announcement will be made to load the bus. As a reminder, students should NOT drive their personal vehicles to the program site. Students should bring a bag lunch, sunscreen and plenty to drink.

-Would you like to honor someone who has cancer or who has died from cancer? Buy them a luminary for $10. Luminaries will be on sale at lunch from Friday, April 16 to Friday, April 23. All proceeds will go to Relay for Life.

-PROM TICKETS will be sold during lunches on Tuesday, April 13 until Friday, April 16. Seniors-$5 per tickets. Juniors and guest are $40 per ticket. If your guest is not a Forestview student, they must have a correct form and copy of their picture ID. Any questions, see Mrs. Henry (D120) before or after school.

-The Ingersoll Rand Sustainability Institute is an interactive workshop for rising seniors that will teach students about the triple bottom line of social, economic and environmental responsibility. The Institute will take place on the campus of Davidson College. If interested, see Mr. Bennett in guidance.

-Get your FREE physicals Saturday, April 24! Be at Forestview by 8:00 sharp to load bus! Forestview appointments begin at 8:30. All students who play sports must have a current physical on file.

-Catawba College is having an OPEN HOUSE Saturday, April 10. Registration begins at 8:00 am. Application fees will be waived if students submit applications during the Open House.

-The Gaston Gazette's BEST AND BRIGHTEST 2010 AWARDS PROGRAM will honor one SENIOR from each of the Greater Gaston area high schools who epitomize the community builders of their generation. These students are committed to their studies, but they are also making meaningful contributions to the betterment of their schools and communities through a myriad of activities. They have shown the ability to balance all the elements in their lives and in some cases have overcome enormous obstacles. Applications for this award can be accessed online or you can see Mr. Bennett in guidance for complete information. The completed application must be received by the Gaston Gazette by Friday, April 2 at 5:00 pm.
