-CHARACTER EDUCATION TRAIT FOR APRIL: SELF DISCIPLINE


-CLASS RINGS will be delivered on FRIDAY, MAY 1 during lunches. This will be your opportunity to pick up your class ring from Jostens' representatives. Bring your balance due on FRIDAY to get your ring. Also, any sophomore or junior that has not ordered a ring may do so during lunches.

-SOPHOMORES: It's not too late to order your class ring! The Jostens representative will be at school FRIDAY, MAY 1st for a ring make-up order day. Any JUNIOR OR SENIOR that has not ordered a class ring may do so at this time. Bring your $60 deposit.

-Any students or other personnel who are interested in volunteering to work at the Catawba lands Conservancy on Saturday May 30 should see Mrs. Bray to obtain an application. Last year we had students who volunteered at the "conservation Celebration" at Redlair Farm and Forest and we have been asked to help again. The celebration includes live music, kids activities, guided and independent nature walks, and story telling. All of these activities require volunteers so we need your help.

-For those attending the PROM THIS YEAR please make note of the following guidelines:
***All Gaston County rules apply;
***3 police officers will be in attendance with one in the parking lot at all times; ***once you enter you cannot leave and come back;
***FHS students and guests must have a photo ID and their invitation to be admitted, both will be checked at the door;
***pictures are taken at FHS from 4:00-8:00 with or w/o an appointment but appointments will be given priority;
***students must be in attendance on Friday to attend the prom on Saturday.

-Any SENIOR who has paid for their CAP AND GOWN but did not pick it up last week can pick it up in the front office.

-DANCE TEAM tryouts will begin May 4-8 from 3:30-5:30.

-Prom picture appointments can be made in the control room. Appointments are not required but recommended. Those with an appointment will be given priority when they arrive. If you have questions see Mrs. Henry. Prom picture price packets will be given out with the invitation in homeroom on Thursday, April 30.

-EOC REVIEW begins Monday, May 4. Check with your EOC teacher for Review Schedules.

-If you have signed up for the AP STATISTICS TEST you need to see Mr. Potter in room B118 after school. Review sessions will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:05-4:00 in B118.

-SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINES:

-Students please be mindful of the Gaston County School Attendance Policy. A student can miss no more than 10 days within a semester without violating the attendance policy. Also, if you are absent please bring a note within 2 days of returning to school. This can be from a doctor, parents, or other agency that states the reason for you not being in attendance at school. This note will determine if your absence is excused or unexcused. Finally, remember prom and athletics uses attendance as one of the variables to determine eligibility.

-Make plans to attend Forestview's Theatre Production of "CINDERELLA" which will be on Friday night, May 8 (7:00), and two performances on Saturday, May 9 (2:00 & 7:00).

-CHARACTER EDUCATION TRAIT FOR APRIL: SELF DISCIPLINE


-Any SENIOR who can work the BBQ after school on Friday please see Mrs. Rouse in D104.

-The boys' tennis team has there last conference match of the season today @ 4:00. If they win today they will win the conference. Please come out and support your tennis team.

-Any SENIOR who has paid for their CAP AND GOWN but did not pick it up last week can pick it up in the front office.

-All students who have signed up to volunteer in the SPECIAL OLYMPICS tomorrow need to report to 1st period in the morning. You will be called out of class to report to the bus. All students need to wear appropriate clothing and need to bring a lunch with them to eat. Please see Mr. Collins, Mr. Baker, or Mr. Combs with questions. If you are late, you will be left!

-Prom picture appointments can be made in the control room. Appointments are not required but recommended. Those with an appointment will be given priority when they arrive. Topics will be dual enrollment courses; Huskins classes; requirements for admission and enrollment; the process that must be followed; the advantages and disadvantages; costs; which courses to take; addressing any questions you may have; SAT; and College applications. We have a wonderful opportunity here at Forestview to get a head start on college (and save money on college costs). Students who participate in this program must have a 3.0 GPA, good attendance and the ability to take on college-level work.

-SOFTBALL PRACTICE CANCELED! Be on the field by 3:15 tomorrow for game (vs. Crest)

-JAZZ BAND AUDITIONS will be held in the band room TODAY, April 20. Jazz Band is open to all student musicians who play saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, electric guitar, bass, and drumset. Come sign up for audition slot today.

-Do you like to DANCE? Are you a natural performer? Do you crave the spotlight? Then COLORGUARD could be the perfect activity for you! Come out for auditions and see what it's all about. There is an informational meeting Monday afternoon (April 20)in the band room followed by a Colorguard clinic Monday through Thursday. Bring exercise clothes and sneakers. All skills necessary for the audition will be taught during the clinic. Final Auditions are Friday, April 24.

Spring Photos are on April 23 for grades 9-11. Students must bring their order form and money on April 23 if they wish to purchase a spring photo.
Senior Group Cap and Gown Photo is on April 30. Seniors must bring their cap and gown on that day...don't forget!!!!! If seniors would like to purchase a group photo they must bring their order form and money on April 30.

-On Tuesday, April 21, at 7:00 pm, our present 11th graders (next year's seniors) and their parents are invited to meet with Mr. Bennett in the library to discuss taking college credit courses as part of your next year's schedule. Topics will be dual enrollment courses; Huskins classes; requirements for admission and enrollment; the process that must be followed; the advantages and disadvantages; costs; which courses to take; addressing any questions you may have; SAT; and College applications. We have a wonderful opportunity here at Forestview to get a head start on college (and save money on college costs). Students who participate in this program must have a 3.0 GPA, good attendance and the ability to take on college-level work.

-If you have signed up for the AP STATISTICS TEST you need to see Mr. Potter in room B118 after school. Review sessions will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:05-4:00 in B118.

-Countywide AP REVIEW SESSIONS for select AP courses will take place on April 25 @ Ashbrook. Interested students should complete a registration form and return it to Mr. Collins by April 17. See your AP teacher or stop by the guidance office for a copy of the registration form.

They have shown the ability to balance all the elements in their lives and in some cases have overcome enormous obstacles. -On Tuesday, April 21, at 7:00 pm, our present 11th graders (next year's seniors) and their parents are invited to meet with Mr. Bennett in the library to discuss taking college credit courses as part of your next year's schedule. Topics will be dual enrollment courses; Huskins classes; requirements for admission and enrollment; the process that must be followed; the advantages and disadvantages; costs; which courses to take; addressing any questions you may have; SAT; and College applications. We have a wonderful opportunity here at Forestview to get a head start on college (and save money on college costs). Students who participate in this program must have a 3.0 GPA, good attendance and the ability to take on college-level work.

-If you have signed up for the AP STATISTICS TEST you need to see Mr. Potter in room B118 after school. Review sessions will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:05-4:00 in B118.

-Countywide AP REVIEW SESSIONS for select AP courses will take place on April 25 @ Ashbrook. Interested students should complete a registration form and return it to Mr. Collins by April 17. See your AP teacher or stop by the guidance office for a copy of the registration form.

They have shown the ability to balance all the elements in their lives and in some cases have overcome enormous obstacles. Applications for this award can be accessed online or you can see Mr. Bennett in guidance for complete information. The completed application must be received by The Gaston Gazette by Tuesday, April 21 at 5:00 pm.
