-A College Admissions Representative from UNC Charlotte will be here at Forestview on Monday, November 1 at 2:15. any Junior or Senior interested in hearing more about this school should sign up in Student Services.

-TAILGATE T-SHIRTS will be on sale during lunches. Short sleeve - $5.00 and long-sleeve - $7.00.

-There will be a SOFTBALL MEETING Wednesday, November 12 from 3:20-4:00 in room D140.

-No HALLOWEEN COSTUMES or MASKS Friday at school or at the ballgame this Friday.

-STUDENTS: Please note that the LIBRARY will be open for research purposes TUESDAYS, WEDNESDAYS, AND THURSDAYS, from 7:30 am to 8:00 am and also from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

UNC CHARLOTTE MERIT SCHOLARSHIP: Interested students must be in the top 10% of the senior class and have a 1200 or better on the SAT critical reading and math. You must apply for admission by November 1st and complete a scholarship application by November 15.

CHARACTER EDUCATION TRAIT FOR OCTOBER: RESPONSIBILITY

-Any SENIOR OR JUNIOR student that has PROM CANDY and you are not selling it, please return the candy to Mrs. Henry. Any candy that is returned must be in good condition and re-saleable. Mrs. Henry will accept you extra candy during 4th period or after school TODAY.

CHARACTER EDUCATION TRAIT FOR OCTOBER: RESPONSIBILITY

-We would like to congratulate the new Miss Forestview 2009...Conner Neal! Also congratulations to the first runner-up, Landon Crowder. Emily Anderson was second runner-up and Kelly McHugh was third runner-up. Miss Congeniality went to Brooke Queen. Congratulations to all 12 contestants for a wonderful pageant!

-HOSA MEMBERS: Remember to sign up to donate blood on November 14th and to return your parent permission form ASAP! Also please pay your dues and see Ms. Hall for picture passes.

-There will be a brief BETA CLUB officers meeting in B119 at 3:00 TODAY.

The Jostens representatives will be here on Thursday, October 30 during lunch for the final order date for any senior that did not place a cap/gown order previously. Bring your deposit! Every senior must order a cap/gown in order to participate in the graduation exercises.

-Attention Students and Parents: You are invited to the MISS FORESTVIEW PAGEANT which will be held Saturday, October 25 at 7:00 pm in the Forestview auditorium. 12 beautiful and talented girls are vying for the coveted title of Miss Forestview 2009! Please join us in "CELEBRATING" our 10th anniversary and help us raise money for our FINE ARTS department. Tickets are $7.00 and are available in the front office or can be purchased at the door.

As of today, the top selling classes are MS. GRIFFIN, MS. BUMGARDNER, MR. HUNSUCKER, MR. MATHEWS, AND the leader, MS. HENRY. Remember, the top class gets a pizza party! Remember...Tailgate T-SHIRTS are still available. Look for the sales table at lunch. Short-sleeved shirts are $8 and long-sleeved shirts are $12. GO JAGS!

Auditions will be held through TODAY, October 21.

-The GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL OF NORTH CAROLINA is the oldest statewide summer residential program for students who have been identified as academically or intellectually gifted. The program, which is open to rising seniors only, with exceptions made for rising juniors in selected performing/visual arts areas, is located on two campuses: Salem College in Winston-Salem and at Meredith College in Raleigh. Selected students will stay on either of these campuses for 6 weeks and focus on a selected academic interest. Classes bend intellectual discussion with practical application of theory. Recreational and social activities are also offered. Students may pick up information and application packets from Mr. Bennett in the guidance office. Completed application must be turned in by TODAY, October 21.

-THIS WEEK IS SPIRIT WEEK! (Monday-Flashback Day), (Tuesday-Support the Troops-Camo Day), (Wednesday-Tacky Day), (Thursday-Super Hero Day), (Friday-Jag Day).

-Congratulations to the follow Forestview students who were recognized at the recent FLANC (Foreign Language Association of NC) meeting in Winston Salem as leaders in their GERMAN classes: ALEXANDRIA BROWN, CATHERINE COBB, AND KATIE WORLEY.

-SENIOR BOYS DANCE PRACTICE will be tonight at 6:00 in the auditorium.

-Any girl interested in playing BASKETBALL needs to meet in Coach Gurganus' room (D144) tomorrow, October 21, after school for a brief, but mandatory meeting. Any questions see Coach Gurganus or Coach Beaty.

-Tuesday, October 21 is the final deadline for TAILGATE BBQ ticket sales. Students should turn in order forms and money in their 2nd period class. Every student selling 5 tickets may attend the Kickoff Party on game day during 4th period. They will be entered in a drawing for four more $50 cash prizes and other great door prizes. As of today, the top selling classes are MS. GRIFFIN, MS. BUMGARDNER, MR. HUNSUCKER, MR. MATHEWS, AND the leader, MS. HENRY. Remember, the top class gets a pizza party! Remember...Tailgate T-SHIRTS are still available. Look for the sales table at lunch. Short-sleeved shirts are $8 and long-sleeved shirts are $12. GO JAGS!

-Attention Environmental Club: There will be a brief meeting today to discuss TAILGATE. All members need to attend for more details.

-October 30 is CLUB PHOTO DAY:

-Forestview Broadcasting Club annual dues were due October 15. All members should pay now to remain in the club and participate in the club photo. Please see Mr. Bill in B104 and bring correct change. Members who would like to assist the radio theater production of "The Perfect Touch" mystery should stop by B104 after school for a 5 minute audition. Two male and two female roles are available. Auditions will be held through Tuesday, October 21.

-There will be a BETA CLUB meeting in the library on Monday, October 27 at 3:00. Items on the agenda include: Election of officers for 2008-2009 and picture passes. All members must attend. Nomination forms for officers of BETA are posted outside B119. Please pick up a form if you are interested in running for election. The form must be returned by Friday, Oct 24 to Mrs. Bost.

-There will be a High School Prayer Breakfast meeting at Union Presbyterian Church tomorrow morning at 7:15. There will be great food, Bible study and prayer. Everyone is invited.

-Attention 10th GRADERS: HUGH O'BRIAN YOUTH LEADERSHIP, commonly know as HOBY , is one of the oldest and most prominent youth leadership organizations in the world. It is a youth leadership development organization designed to inspire change within your own community. For more information go to www.Hoby.org or see Mr. Bennett in guidance for an application packet. Completed applications are due November 6.

-The GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL OF NORTH CAROLINA is the oldest statewide summer residential program for students who have been identified as academically or intellectually gifted. The program, which is open to rising seniors only, with exceptions made for rising juniors in selected performing/visual arts areas, is located on two campuses: Salem College in Winston-Salem and at Meredith College in Raleigh. Selected students will stay on either of these campuses for 6 weeks and focus on a selected academic interest. Classes bend intellectual discussion with practical application of theory. Recreational and social activities are also offered. Students may pick up information and application packets from Mr. Bennett in the guidance office. Completed application must be turned in by Tuesday, October 21.

-An informational meeting for MOCK TRIAL will be held on Monday, October 20 at 3:00 in Mrs. Crabtree's room in B144. The meeting should last about 20 minutes. Please see Mrs. Crabtree if you are interested in Mock Trial and are unable to attend the meeting.

-Today is the Early Bird deadline for Tailgate BBQ ticket sales – one $50 cash prize will be drawn this afternoon. Ms. Waldrop’s 2nd period class is currently in the lead for ticket sales. Students selling just 5 tickets can attend the 4th period Kick-Off party next Friday. They also will be entered in a drawing for four more $50 cash prizes, and other great door prizes. The program, which is open to rising seniors only, with exceptions made for rising juniors in selected performing/visual arts areas, is located on two campuses: Salem College in Winston-Salem and at Meredith College in Raleigh. Selected students will stay on either of these campuses for 6 weeks and focus on a selected academic interest. Classes bend intellectual discussion with practical application of theory. Recreational and social activities are also offered. Students may pick up information and application packets from Mr. Bennett in the guidance office. Completed application must be turned in by Tuesday, October 20.

-Any SENIOR interested in teaching as a career should consider the NC TEACHING FELLOWS SCHOLARSHIP. Interested students should have a strong record of academic achievement, community service, and extracurricular activities. See Mr. Collins for more information. Applications are due October 17.

-SELL, SELL, SELL those Tailgate BBQ tickets. Mr. MATHEW'S 2nd period class is currently in the lead for ticket sales. Students selling just 5 tickets can attend the 4th period Kick-Off party on game day. They also will be entered in a drawing for five $50 cash prizes, and other great door prizes. This Friday, October 17, is the Early Bird deadline for ticket sales – one $50 cash prize will be drawn that day. Final deadline is Tuesday, October 21. Keep selling!

-PSAT REMINDER: Students taking the PSAT on Wednesday, October 15 will reportly directly to their assigned room for testing at 8:00. There are lists posted at the clock area and on "B" hall that tell them where to go for the test. The list is in ABC order. Please be on time because the test will start promptly at 8:00.

-STUDENTS: Please note that the LIBRARY will be open for research purposes TUESDAYS, WEDNESDAYS, AND THURSDAYS, from 7:30 am to 8:00 am and also from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Please take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

-TAILGATE T-SHIRTS featuring the Forestview Jaguar standing on a surf board riding the green wave are on display on the Main Conference Room windows. -Attention 10th GRADERS: HUGH O'BRIAN YOUTH LEADERSHIP, commonly know as HOBY , is one of the oldest and most prominent youth leadership organizations in the world. It is a youth leadership development organization designed to inspire change within your own community.
