-We would like to congratulate the new Miss Forestview 2009...Conner Neal! Also congratulations to the first runner-up, Landon Crowder. Emily Anderson was second runner-up and Kelly McHugh was third runner-up. Miss Congeniality went to Brooke Queen. Congratulations to all 12 contestants for a wonderful pageant!
-HOSA MEMBERS: Remember to sign up to donate blood on November 14th and to return your parent permission form ASAP! Also please pay your dues and see Ms. Hall for picture passes.
-There will be a brief BETA CLUB officers meeting in B119 at 3:00 TODAY.
-There will be an organizational meeting for the YOUNG REPUBLICANS OF AMERICA club Thursday, October 30 after school in B113. If you cannot attend the meeting but are interested in being a member of the club, stop by Mr. Spinks' room for information and to sign up.

-Attention Students and Parents: You are invited to the MISS FORESTVIEW PAGEANT which will be held Saturday, October 25 at 7:00 pm in the Forestview auditorium. 12 beautiful and talented girls are vying for the coveted title of Miss Forestview 2009! Please join us in "CELEBRATING" our 10th anniversary and help us raise money for our FINE ARTS department. Tickets are $7.00 and are available in the front office or can be purchased at the door.

-Attention Students and Parents: You are invited to the MISS FORESTVIEW PAGEANT which will be held Saturday, October 25 at 7:00 pm in the Forestview auditorium. 12 beautiful and talented girls are vying for the coveted title of Miss Forestview 2009! Please join us in "CELEBRATING" our 10th anniversary and help us raise money for our FINE ARTS department. Tickets are $7.00 and are available in the front office or can be purchased at the door.
-GERMAN CLUB MEETING will be on Tuesday, October 28 after school in B118. Please bring the last dues to be in the club picture. We will distribute club photo passes.

As of today, the top selling classes are MS. GRIFFIN, MS. BUMGARDNER, MR. HUNSUCKER, MR. MATHEWS, AND the leader, MS. HENRY. Remember, the top class gets a pizza party! Remember...Tailgate T-SHIRTS are still available. Look for the sales table at lunch. Short-sleeved shirts are $8 and long-sleeved shirts are $12. GO JAGS!

Members who would like to assist the radio theater production of "The Perfect Touch" mystery should stop by B104 after school for a 5 minute audition. Two male and two female roles are available. Auditions will be held through TODAY, October 21.

-The GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL OF NORTH CAROLINA is the oldest statewide summer residential program for students who have been identified as academically or intellectually gifted. The program, which is open to rising seniors only, with exceptions made for rising juniors in selected performing/visual arts areas, is located on two campuses: Salem College in Winston-Salem and at Meredith College in Raleigh. Selected students will stay on either of these campuses for 6 weeks and focus on a selected academic interest. Classes bend intellectual discussion with practical application of theory. Recreational and social activities are also offered. Students may pick up information and application packets from Mr. Bennett in the guidance office. Completed application must be turned in by TODAY, October 21.

-SENIOR BOYS DANCE PRACTICE will be tonight at 6:00 in the auditorium.
-Any girl interested in playing BASKETBALL needs to meet in Coach Gurganus' room (D144) tomorrow, October 21, after school for a brief, but mandatory meeting. Any questions see Coach Gurganus or Coach Beaty.
-Tuesday, October 21 is the final deadline for TAILGATE BBQ ticket sales. Students should turn in order forms and money in their 2nd period class. Every student selling 5 tickets may attend the Kickoff Party on game day during 4th period. They will be entered in a drawing for four more $50 cash prizes and other great door prizes. As of today, the top selling classes are MS. GRIFFIN, MS. BUMGARDNER, MR. HUNSUCKER, MR. MATHEWS, AND the leader, MS. HENRY. Remember, the top class gets a pizza party! It is a youth leadership development organization designed to inspire change within your own community. -The GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL OF NORTH CAROLINA is the oldest statewide summer residential program for students who have been identified as academically or intellectually gifted. The program, which is open to rising seniors only, with exceptions made for rising juniors in selected performing/visual arts areas, is located on two campuses: Salem College in Winston-Salem and at Meredith College in Raleigh. Selected students will stay on either of these campuses for 6 weeks and focus on a selected academic interest. Classes bend intellectual discussion with practical application of theory. Recreational and social activities are also offered. Students may pick up information and application packets from Mr. Bennett in the guidance office. Completed application must be turned in by Tuesday, October 20.

-PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCE DAY IS TODAY, October 16. Students will be released at 12:00 noon and conferences will be held from 12:00 noon until 7:00 pm. Students received their parent/teacher conference forms during 4th period on Wednesday, October 8.

Selected students will stay on either of these campuses for 6 weeks and focus on a selected academic interest. Classes bend intellectual discussion with practical application of theory. It is a youth leadership development organization designed to inspire change within your own community. -The GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL OF NORTH CAROLINA is the oldest statewide summer residential program for students who have been identified as academically or intellectually gifted. The program, which is open to rising seniors only, with exceptions made for rising juniors in selected performing/visual arts areas, is located on two campuses: Salem College in Winston-Salem and at Meredith College in Raleigh. Selected students will stay on either of these campuses for 6 weeks and focus on a selected academic interest. Classes bend intellectual discussion with practical application of theory. Recreational and social activities are also offered. Students may pick up information and application packets from Mr. Bennett in the guidance office. Completed application must be turned in by Tuesday, October 20.
-Each year, the Catalyst Conference brings a selected group of 80 high school students from across North Carolina to The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for a weekend-long exploration of social justice issues affecting both America and the larger world. Not only will participants be exposed to social justice issues, they will also have a chance to explore the Chapel Hill campus and learn more about the UNC academic experience. If interested, see Mr. Bennett in guidance.

-Attention Students and Parents: You are invited to the Miss Forestview Pageant which will be held Saturday, October 25 at 7:00 pm in the Forestview auditorium. 12 beautiful and talented girls are vying for the coveted title of Miss Forestview 2009! Please join us in "CELEBRATING" our 10th anniversary and help us raise money for our FINE ARTS department. Tickets are $7.00 and are available in the front office or can be purchased at the door.
-SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION:
Centennial: Nominations are now being accepted for the Centennial Scholarship to NC State. Eligible students should be considering a career in Engineering Field. Interested students should see Mr. Collins on or before Oct 17 to be considered.
Jefferson: Nominations are now being accepted for the Jefferson Scholarship to the University of Virginia. Jefferson Scholars are selected on the basis of demonstrated excellence in the areas of leadership, scholarship and citizenship. Interested students should see Mr. Collins on or before Oct 17.

-Don't forget students are not in school on Friday, October 10 (we do have a home football game that night (homecoming). This is a teacher workday.
-PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCE DAY IS Thursday, October 16. Students will be released at 12:00 noon and conferences will be held from 12:00 noon until 7:00 pm. Students will receive their parent/teacher conference forms during 4th period on Wednesday, October 8. If you are interested in meeting with your student's teacher fill out the form and students will take it to their teachers so that they can fill out the time of the appointment.

Students selling just 5 tickets can attend the 4th period Kick-Off party on game day. They also will be entered in a drawing for five $50 cash prizes, and other great door prizes. Next Friday, October 17, is the Early Bird deadline for ticket sales – one $50 cash prize will be drawn that day. Final deadline is Tuesday, October 21. Keep selling!
-Everyone is invited to a PRAYER BREAKFAST Tuesday mornings at 7:15 am at UNION PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH which is two doors down on Union Road.
