-Congratulations to the Girl's Basketball team on their win Wednesday against Hickory. They will play again tonight against TC Roberson here at Forestview.
-Attention Wrestlers: Please clean out lockers this week after school. Equipment and equipment bags need to be turned in to Coach Stewart.
-5th ANNUAL FREE SPORTS PHYSICAL DAY is Saturday, April 26 from 8:00 am to 11:30 am at Orthodpaedic Specialists of Gastonia at 934 Cox Road in Gastonia.
-Pre-Festival Band Concert is on March 4 at 7:30 at Forestview.
-Forestview will present Meredith Willson's "The Music Man" on Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19 at 7:30 pm and also on Sunday, April 20 at 3:00 pm. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. The Music Man is performed by Forestview students, featuring Brad Boaz as the "Music Man" and Emily Anderson as "Marian Paroo."
-To all Forestview Sophomores and parents: The North Carolina Writing Test is scheduled for Tuesday, March 4. To assist our students we are scheduling after school review sessions each day from February 25-28 from 3:00-4:00 after school. Bus transportation will be furnished. The event will include presentations by representatives of the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point), U.S. Military Academy (West Point), and the U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis). Congressional offices, Cadets, and Midshipmen from the academies will also be present. Students, families, school counselors, athletic directors and educators are all welcome. Location: Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Center, Council/Commission Chambers, 600 East 4th Street, Charlotte, NC 28202. Begins promptly at 10:00 am. WHO? Any 9th grader in Gaston County is eligible to apply for the Commissioners' School of Excellence. HOW? -Students interested in attending a military academy can attend the North Carolina Service Academy Day in Charlotte on Saturday, March 15, 2008. The event will include presentations by representatives of the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point), U.S. Military Academy (West Point), and the U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis). Congressional offices, Cadets, and Midshipmen from the academies will also be present. Students, families, school counselors, athletic directors and educators are all welcome. -There will be a mandatory F.T.A. (Future Teachers of America) meeting immediately after school on Monday, February 18. All members please attend. The meeting will start at approximately 3:00 and should be no longer than 20 minutes.

The Citizens' Police Academy will introduce participants to the various functions of the Gaston County Police Dept. This session will feature allowing the class as a group to select the topics of instruction from a list of available topics to include patrol, K-9, crime scene search, vice, investigations, recruiting, emergency response team, marine unit, and bomb squad. Participants 18 years of age and older are also allowed to ride with a police officer during a patrol shift. The Police Academy is free of charge and is open to adults and high school juniors and seniors. Applications can be picked up at County Police Headquarters located at 420 W. Franklin Blvd., Gastonia, at the Bessember City Sub Station located at 132 W. Virginia Ave., Bessemer City. Applications are also available online at www.co.gaston.nc.us/gastonpd/forms/cpa/cpa.htm. Applications are processed on a first-come basis, so timing is critical. Also, many colleges use the FAFSA to award scholarship money. If you have not started the process, you need to see your counselor immediately for information.
