-The GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL OF NORTH CAROLINA is the oldest statewide summer residential program for students who have been identified as academically or intellectually gifted. The program, which is open to RISING SENIORS ONLY, with exceptions made for rising juniors in selected performing/visual arts areas, is located on two campuses: Salem College in Winston-Salem and at Meredith College in Raleigh. Selected students will stay in either of these campuses for 6 weeks and focus on a selected academic interest. Classes blend intellectual discussion with practical application of theory. Recreational and social activities are also offered. Students may pick up information and application packets from Mr. Bennett in the guidance office. Selected students will stay in either of these campuses for 6 weeks and focus on a selected academic interest. Classes blend intellectual discussion with practical application of theory. Recreational and social activities are also offered. Students may pick up information and application packets from Mr. Bennett in the guidance office. -The GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL OF NORTH CAROLINA is the oldest statewide summer residential program for students who have been identified as academically or intellectually gifted. The program, which is open to RISING SENIORS ONLY, with exceptions made for rising juniors in selected performing/visual arts areas, is located on two campuses: Salem College in Winston-Salem and at Meredith College in Raleigh. Selected students will stay in either of these campuses for 6 weeks and focus on a selected academic interest. Classes blend intellectual discussion with practical application of theory. Recreational and social activities are also offered. Students may pick up information and application packets from Mr. Bennett in the guidance office. Completed applications must be turned in by Friday, October 23.

The school offers academic programs designed to educate tomorrow's scientific and technological leaders. Interested students and families are invited to attend an Open House to be held on October 31. -If you’re interested in learning more about healthcare careers, plan to visit CaroMont Health’s Healthcare Career Day on Saturday, Oct. 17 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Professionals will talk to students, demonstrate equipment and share hands-on activities. -The GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL OF NORTH CAROLINA is the oldest statewide summer residential program for students who have been identified as academically or intellectually gifted. The program, which is open to RISING SENIORS ONLY, with exceptions made for rising juniors in selected performing/visual arts areas, is located on two campuses: Salem College in Winston-Salem and at Meredith College in Raleigh. Selected students will stay in either of these campuses for 6 weeks and focus on a selected academic interest. Classes blend intellectual discussion with practical application of theory. Recreational and social activities are also offered. Students may pick up information and application packets from Mr. Bennett in the guidance office. Completed applications must be turned in by Friday, October 23.

-The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSSM) is a public residential high school for academically talented juniors and seniors. The school offers academic programs designed to educate tomorrow's scientific and technological leaders. Interested students and families are invited to attend an Open House to be held on October 31. -The Lady Jags tennis team clinched the conference with a 9-0 win over Kings Mountain last night. The following girls won their matches: Megan Debelius; Hillary Petruska; Katie Martin; Hannah Harwell; Jennifer Javornik; Pressly McGill; Rachel Arend; Julia Kay Reese; and Emily Milton.
-Listen up Seniors! If you have not already ordered your cap and gown you may do so on Wednesday, November 4th during lunches.

...NC Teaching Fellows: Teaching Fellows applications are due to Mr. Collins by October 16. Students are strongly recommended to review their application with Mr. Collins by Tuesday, October 13.
...Senior Scholarship Reminder: Scholarship deadlines have a way of passing quickly. Be very attentive to upcoming scholarship deadlines. You should be creating college options and researching scholarship opportunities for schools of interest. Planning is a key. make sure your request letters of recommendation at least a week in advance.
-Join us for Spirit Night and support Forestview by going to Hickory Tavern on Wednesday, October 14. On your way out the door place your receipt in the box located at the front door and 10% of receipts collected will be donated to the school. Hickory Tavern is located at 1925 Hoffman Road, next to Lowe’s Foods. Join the fun!
-Order your YEARBOOK early and pay less! If you order between October 5 through November 5 it's only $55 plus tax. If you order between November 9-December 9 the cost is $65 plus tax. If you order between December 14 and February 21 the cost is $65 plus tax. If you order after February 22 the cost is $75 plus tax. All orders placed before February 22 can be ordered online through Forestview's website (click on Yearbook icon). All orders after February 22 must be placed with Mrs. Slentz (not Jostens).

Examples include: TWB, Commissioner's school, governor's school, student hobbies, student summer jobs, beach vacations or overseas trip photos. Please write the names of students on the back of the photos, put them in an envelope with your name on the outside, and drop them off to B103 or to the office. Photos will be returned.
-The GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL OF NORTH CAROLINA is the oldest statewide summer residential program for students who have been identified as academically or intellectually gifted. The program, which is open to RISING SENIORS ONLY, with exceptions made for rising juniors in selected performing/visual arts areas, is located on two campuses: Salem College in Winston-Salem and at Meredith College in Raleigh. Selected students will stay in either of these campuses for 6 weeks and focus on a selected academic interest. Classes blend intellectual discussion with practical application of theory. Recreational and social activities are also offered. Students may pick up information and application packets from Mr. Bennett in the guidance office. Completed applications must be turned in by Friday, October 23.
-If you’re interested in learning more about healthcare careers, plan to visit CaroMont Health’s Healthcare Career Day on Saturday, Oct. 17 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Professionals will talk to students, demonstrate equipment and share hands-on activities. It’s in the Education Center at Gaston Memorial Hospital. Please register by calling 704-834-2522.
-The FHS MARCHING JAGS are selling RAFFLE TICKETS for $1 for a chance to win a $500 US AIRWAYS GIFT CARD. You may purchase the raffle tickets from any band member or in the office.
-The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSSM) is a public residential high school for academically talented juniors and seniors. The school offers academic programs designed to educate tomorrow's scientific and technological leaders. Interested students and families are invited to attend an Open House to be held on October 31. See Mr. Bennett in guidance for more information.
-Student 10 EVENT PASSES are available in the front office for $35.00. We also have ALL SPORTS PASSES.

-Attention all new JAG RAG STAFF MEMBERS: This is a reminder from your editors that the deadline for ads sold TODAY, October 8. Remember that this is a required assignment for all new staff members. Please turn money and ad information in to Mrs. Gerow in B107 at the beginning of fourth period.
-Anyone interested in playing BASEBALL OR SOFTBALL this year must attend one of the meetings TODAY, Thursday, October 8. Either 7:40 am with Coach Stewart in A112 or 3:10 in Coach Stewart's room. Very important!
