-CHARACTER EDUCATION TRAIT FOR JANUARY: GOOD JUDGMENT

-VIDEO ANNOUNCEMENTS will begin on Monday. Please tune your TVs to channel 81 @ the beginning of 2nd period.

-Attention all HOSA MEMBERS. There is a very important HOSA meeting Tuesday, February 17 at 3:00 pm in D105 to prepare for the BLOOD DRIVE.

-SOPHOMORES! It's time to order your CLASS RING! The Jostens respresentatives will be here on February 5th and 6th during school lunch periods to take your class ring order. PARENT NIGHT has been set for Thursday night, February 5th from 4:00-7:00 pm. This will be your opportunity to order your official high school class ring and have your parents come out with you for this special event. Also any SENIOR or JUNIOR who has not ordered a ring, may do so at this time. Bring a $60 deposit.

-HIGH Q will meet after school on Wednesday, February 4th in room B118. New and old members welcome.

-Time is running out to order and pay for your yearbook. February 6 is Jostens deadline for a yearbook with options and February 21 is Jostens deadline for a yearbook without options. This is the last date for ordering and paying for a yearbook with no name-stamping and no icons. You can also purchase a plain yearbook from Mrs. Slentz with cash or check made out to FHS for $65 (room B103) after school. -MR. FORESTVIEW DATE HAS CHANGED! The new date is Saturday, March 21 @ 7:00 pm.

-There will be a DRAMA BOOSTER SPONSORED FORESTVIEW TALENT SHOW on Saturday, January 31 at 7:00 pm. Auditions will be on Tuesday, January 27 from 3:00-6:00 and practice after school on Thursday, January 29. Tickets are $3.00 in advance and will be sold at lunch for the rest of this week. Tickets are $5.00 at the door.

-There will be a PTA Meeting on Thursday, February 12. The subject of this very important meeting will be Financial Aid. A Representative from the College Foundation of North Carolina will be here and will give parents information on financial aid opportunities and help with filling out the FAFSA form which is THE FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID.

-Any SENIORS that would like to turn in toddler pictures for a special YEARBOOK page can drop off pictures in the yearbook room (B103) by TODAY January 30.

-The 10th GRADE STATE WRITING TEST WILL BE TUESDAY, MARCH 10TH. All 10th Graders need to attend the State Writing Test Review Sessions on March 2, 3, 4, 5 from 3:00-4:00 pm in THOMAS, UTLEY, & SLENTZ'S ROOMS. Writing scores will be on student transcripts.

Colleges also use the financial aid information from the FAFSA to determine need for scholarships. To start the application process, go to www.fafsa.ed.gov

This is a great opportunity for high achieving science and math oriented students to live and study on a university campus, cost free, during the summer. -CHARACTER EDUCATION TRAIT FOR JANUARY: GOOD JUDGMENT

-JANUARY 26 IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE 2ND SEMESTER. Students will report to HOMEROOM at 8:00 am and they will receive a copy of their schedule.

-There will be a PTA Meeting on Thursday, February 12. The subject of this very important meeting will be Financial Aid. A Representative from the College Foundation of North Carolina will be here and will give parents information on financial aid opportunities and help with filling out the FAFSA form which is THE FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID.

-Students who are enrolled in MRS. SMITH'S 9TH GRADE AP-PREP ENGLISH CLASS next semester need to come by room D139 to pick up an assignment concerning your summer independent reading.

-Attention 10TH AND ELEVENTH GRADERS interested in pursuing a career based in SCIENCE AND/OR MATH! Applications are being accepted for SUMMER VENTURES IN SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS-a four-week summer residential program offered on six campuses of the University of North Carolina system. This is a great opportunity for high achieving science and math oriented students to live and study on a university campus, cost free, during the summer. -The 10th GRADE STATE WRITING TEST WILL BE TUESDAY, MARCH 10TH. All 10th Graders need to attend the State Writing Test Review Sessions on March 2, 3, 4, 5 from 3:00-4:00 pm in THOMAS, UTLEY, & SLENTZ'S ROOMS. Writing scores will be on student transcripts.

-If you have signed up for any of the Driver's Education classes or are interested in signing up please make note of the new Gaston County School Board Policy. Beginning with this 2nd semester, students cannot have more than 6 absences 1st semester if they want to take the class. Don't forget that you need to pass 70% of your classes to keep your DRIVER'S LICENSE AND PERMITS. Please work hard to keep your grades up!
